Four is the magic number! Alex Timbers, a Tony Award-winning director, has achieved a remarkable feat: having four productions running simultaneously on Broadway. This places him in a very exclusive club of directors who have managed to juggle such a demanding schedule.
Timbers' latest addition to his Broadway portfolio is All Out: Comedy About Ambition by Simon Rich. This production joins his already successful shows: Beetlejuice, Just in Time, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical. It's a testament to his talent and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
He joins a distinguished group of directors who have previously achieved this milestone. These include:
- Joe Mantello in 2016 with Blackbird, The Humans, Wicked, and An Act of God.
- Casey Nicholaw in 2016 with Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, Something Rotten!, and Tuck Everlasting.
- Susan Stroman in 2001 with Contact, The Music Man, The Producers, and Thou Shalt Not.
- Trevor Nunn, who achieved this twice: in 1988 with Cats, Les Miserables, Starlight Express, and Chess; and again in 1995 with Cats, Les Miz, Sunset Boulevard, and Arcadia.
But here's where it gets controversial... What's the secret to such directorial success? Is it meticulous planning, a strong team, or a unique artistic vision? And how does one director manage the demands of four separate shows?
To mark this achievement, Timbers posed for a photo with cast members from all four productions. The photo included stars like Robert Petkoff and Bahiyah Hibah from Moulin Rouge!, Julia Grondin, Khori Michelle Petinaud, and Larkin Reilly from Just in Time, Justin Collette and Isabella Esler from Beetlejuice, and Gracie Lawrence and Clyde Lawrence from All Out.
